Answering 24/7 from our Theall Rd office in northwest Houston

Garage door repair and replacement in Houston, day or night

A snapped spring, a cable off its drum or an opener that only hums will all leave the car stuck inside. We fix the part that failed, test the balance before we leave, and install a new door or opener when a repair stops making sense.

Springs, cables and stuck doors

Most no-open calls trace back to a spring, a lift cable or the opener.

Emergency repair

We service and install openers and doors from LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Clopay, Amarr and the other brands already in most Houston garages.

Before you touch the door

Garage door stuck? Read this first

Most of the calls that reach DP Garage Door Company start the same way: the door made a noise it never made before, then stopped. Sometimes it is a snapped torsion spring, sometimes a sensor knocked out of line by a recycling bin, and sometimes the opener itself has run out of years. The finder below helps you tell them apart.

Straight answer

Most Houston garage doors that refuse to open have a broken spring, and a torsion spring replacement typically costs $140 to $350, per This Old House's 2026 figures. Leave the door down, keep the car in place, and do not let the opener keep trying, because it strips gears lifting a dead weight.

Six parts cause nearly every no-open call. Match what you saw or heard to a part, and you will know which repair you are reading about.

Everything we work on

33 jobs in five groups, from a single cable to a full commercial dock door. Each one has its own page with what the work involves and what drives the price.

Why Houston doors wear out

What heat, humidity and storms do to a garage door

Houston air is wet most mornings, and that moisture settles on the bare steel of a garage door every night. Springs, lift cables and the bottom brackets where the cables anchor are where rust shows up first, and a rusted cable is one that frays. When we replace a spring here, we check the cables and brackets on the same visit for that reason.

Then there is wind and power. Any garage without a battery backup opener had to be opened by hand during the Beryl outage. South of the city, Brazoria County sits inside the state windstorm catastrophe area, and garage doors are on the list of items TDI checks for a windstorm certificate, which matters if you are replacing a door in Pearland.

Two offices, one phone line

A northwest Houston service office and a Pearland head office

Both offices answer the same number, so you never have to work out which one to call.

Service office, northwest Houston

6641 Theall Rd, Houston, TX 77066

Our service office sits among the newer flex warehouses off Theall Road, between SH 249 and US 290. Jobs across the north side are scheduled from here, and the subdivisions around it are mostly early-1980s homes with original-era hardware.

Head office, Pearland

Pearland, Texas 77584

Our head office is in Pearland, a city that grew from about 37,600 residents in 2000 to more than 125,800 by 2020, so much of its housing, and its garage doors, went up in the same two decades.

From the call to the last test

What happens after you call

  1. You call, any hour

Tell us what the door is doing, whether a car is stuck inside and whether the door is open or shut.

  2. We ask the useful questions

A bang, a hanging cable or a humming motor each point to different parts, so we know what to bring.

  3. We look before we price

On site we check springs, cables, rollers and the opener, then explain what failed and the price before work starts.

  4. We repair or replace

Worn parts come off, matched parts go on, and new springs are sized to the actual weight of your door.

  5. We test it with you

A balance check, the auto-reverse test with the sensors, and a few full cycles while you watch.

How a visit runs

What you can expect on every job

Springs in matched pairs

On two-spring doors we replace both, because the one that has not broken yet has run the same number of cycles.

Balance checked before we leave

With the opener disconnected, a balanced door holds steady at half open. A door that drifts is not finished.

You see the worn part

A frayed cable or a cracked roller is shown to you before you approve the repair, not described after.

Sensors and reverse tested

Every visit ends with the auto-reverse test, so the door stops and backs up when something is in its path.

One number, any hour

The same line answers at noon and at 2 a.m., including weekends and holidays.
