Short answer
Most Houston garage door calls fall into one of five groups: a door that will not work, worn springs and hardware, opener and access problems, a new door, or commercial doors. If you are not sure which you need, the symptom guide below matches what you see to the service page.
Repairs & emergencies
These are the calls that start with a door that will not open, will not close, or came down in a way it should not. The repair usually involves more than one part, so the first job is finding out what actually failed.
Springs, cables & hardware
Springs, cables, rollers, hinges and seals are the parts that wear out on every door, whatever its brand or age. Most of these jobs are done in one visit, and catching them early keeps them small.
Openers & access
The opener guides the door; it does not lift it. These pages cover repairing and replacing openers, the safety sensors that stop the door on a person or a car, and the keypads, remotes and apps that control it.
New doors
When a door is past repairing, or you want a different look, insulation or a wind rating, these pages explain the options, what each costs to own in a Houston climate, and what an installation includes.
Commercial doors
Shops, warehouses, docks and storefronts use heavier doors that cycle far more often. These pages cover commercial sectional and rolling steel doors, their operators, dock equipment and fire door testing.
Which of these do I actually need?
Start with what the door is doing. If more than one row fits, call and describe it; we will tell you which part to look at first.
| What you see | Service page | Usual cause |
|---|---|---|
| A bang, then the door will not lift | Torsion spring replacement | The spring above the door has broken. |
| One corner is lower than the other | Cable repair | A cable has slipped or snapped. |
| Rollers out of the track | Off-track repair | Do not run the opener. |
| The opener hums but nothing moves | Opener repair | Stripped gear or a dead spring. |
| The door reverses near the floor | Sensor repair | Usually alignment or sun glare. |
| Grinding or rattling | Roller replacement | Worn rollers or hinges. |
| Daylight under the door | Weather seal replacement | Worn seal or uneven slab. |
| Door stuck open at night | Emergency repair | Call any hour. |

How we approach every job
Every visit starts with the door, not the part we expected to replace. We test the balance by hand with the opener disconnected, check the springs, cables and rollers, and explain what failed and what it costs before any work starts. When a repair no longer makes sense, we say so and price a replacement alongside it.
