Short answer
Central Northwest had 10,919 owner-occupied homes in the 2016-2020 Census estimates, and about two-thirds of its housing was built between 1950 and 1979. Mid-century homes there still have one-piece doors, extension springs and older openers, alongside replacement doors that are now aging themselves.
What garage doors deal with in Central Northwest
Central Northwest's housing is mid-century: of about 18,700 homes in the 2011-2015 Census estimates, 4,791 were built in the 1950s, 3,489 in the 1960s and 4,121 in the 1970s. Many of those houses were built with single-car garages or carports, and plenty have been enlarged or had their doors replaced over the years.
That history shows up in the doors we work on. Some homes still have one-piece tilt-up doors with heavy side springs; others have sectional doors from a 1980s or 1990s replacement now wearing out. Openers in these garages are often older units whose parts are hard to find, which makes replacement the better value.
Central Northwest is on the same side of town as our service office, so it is among the shorter runs we make.
